Better Than Zero:
How to Increase the Benefit of Psychotherapy Through Well-Being

Available evidence suggests that although psychotherapy works with a range of clients and concerns, there are limitations to its effectiveness. There is good news, however. Over the past 20 years researchers and clinicians alike have found that focused activities aimed at improving individual, interpersonal, and social functioning increase the benefits of psychotherapy.
The purpose of this workshop is to explore positive psychology strategies to increase overall well-being. Doing so can help clients experience greater positive emotion, gratitude, meaning, character strengths, and support systems, which have been shown to serve as buffers to mental illness. This workshop includes video examples, brief experiential exercises, and handouts to enhance the experience of participants.
